Took a LONG time for My Moment of Joy Today

I tell people if I can have one moment of joy each day it is enough.

It’s almost 10 p.m. The kids should be in bed. But I’m finishing up the charts and they aren’t.

Ricardo came in for this conversation (I will try to show you his cute Hispanic accent)

Ricardo: Mom, what we doink tomorrow?

Me: Same old thing. I’m going to sit here and work and you kids are going to fight all day.

Ric: (with much enthusiasm) AWESOME!

and then, after a few moments of silence:

Ric: I beat up Tony tomorrow?

Me: No, Ricardo, you can’t beat up Tony.

Ric: Aw, Mom. You say we fighting tomorrow.

And I look at him and his usually serious face breaks into a huge grin and his eyes sparkle.

And I go to bed knowing that no matter what happens, no matter how hard it is, there is enough joy to keep me going for one more day.

Claudia,
I loved this post! It's good to see that with all that's happening, there are still a few brights spots in your day.
