Drama Brings Blog Traffic

Well, my readership was at a monthly high yesterday. Guess you guys just get addicted to the drama. It certainly isn't my wonderful blog posts lately or the great pictures or video posts or anything. Just text and good old fashioned Fletcher drama.

This morning at 7:10 the police department called to tell us that our car had been found about 45 minutes from here -- a good three hours from where Mike's My Space said he was yesterday morning at 7. I suppose it is possible he put that there to throw me off, but I think more than likely he's been all over the state. Yes, he was in the car, no he wasn't driving it, but yes he is now in jail. And, since he was arrested in yet another county, he will face charges there. That is where he is in jail.

So, sometime we have to figure out how to get our car back, but we're relieved it is there.

And yes, even though I hate to say it, I am relieved that Mike is once again locked up. I say this only because it means that we are all safe -- we being the 12-14 year olds and their families that he tattoes without parental permission, the middle schoolers he sells pot to, the businessses he vandalizes with graffiti, the stores he breaks into, the old ladies whose car he steals (the most recent vehicle before ours was a disabled elderly woman's only transportation), and the myriad of other folks who are affected by his reckless behavior. And we being his family members who continue to be violated by his choices and damaged by his behavior.

There is a point when a person goes beyond the grief and loss associated with parenting a child with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and moves to a place where it becomes more important to protect everyone else. We still love Mike. He is our son. But it is a relief to know that at least for now he will be somewhere where he cannot meddle in the lives of anyone else, innocent or not innocent.

Salinda remains aloof, cold, and unapologetic. This morning I told her about the car being recovered and MIke being in jail. Her only question was what friend he was with (both guys are in jail). Her attitude remains unchanged.

I am drowning in work and am tired. Finally, after almost 2 months, the Sears guy is coming to fix the washer today...
