On to the Next Thing....

How much time do you spend in the present?  I mean completely thinking about what is happening RIGHT NOW.   I’m afraid most of us are either thinking about the past or on to the next thing before we even enjoy the moment we are in.    But to take in a sunrise, or the hug of a child or grandchild, or the smile from someone you love and embrace that moment is what life should be about.

One of my favorite quotes says, "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, bu try the moments that take our breath away.”    But if we are always moving on to the next there there may not be time for those really special moments to take our breath away.

These verses from Deuteronomy 30 are a great reminder:
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him."

THIS DAY we get to choose.  This means that every morning when we wake up, we get to choose life or death, blessings or curses…. and this choice is made by loving God, listening to His voice, and holding fast to Him.

So what will it be today?  Will you take time to live in the moment?  Will you choose life?  It’s up to you.
