Even if they choose not to go home for the holidays - it's a whole lot better than having nowhere to go.

Same is true with kids who don't get adopted, but age out of foster care. I'd like to see some sort of network set up to match these kids with compatible families - a way to get to know each other and decide if it's a good fit for both sides before making a commitment that could turn into a long-term relationship.Kathleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00109103356308655727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11190188.post-80881869757690314222010-05-19T11:16:50.411-05:002010-05-19T11:16:50.411-05:00Adoption is for life, just as family is. They do come back and say that if they had listened things could have been easier for them. One example of this we have going right now is a kid who chose to only work ten hours a week his junior and senior years in high school because he was going to just relax, now he has decided that he wants to study in Europe and take 3 majors but he has to work or he will not have the money to do what he wants to.Cyndihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03707402484656540757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11190188.post-55534949060124281412010-05-19T10:47:55.710-05:002010-05-19T10:47:55.710-05:00I think you need to tweak that and submit it as a ...I think you need to tweak that and submit it as a letter/commentary to the local paper.Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16938744375040726513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11190188.post-83206837133165492892010-05-19T10:29:49.249-05:002010-05-19T10:29:49.249-05:00well said and so very true.well said and so very true.stellarparenting.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04975942737904876508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11190188.post-67224602043210996602010-05-19T10:17:44.475-05:002010-05-19T10:17:44.475-05:00So true! I want to be there to help my kids find their way through that morass of confusing ideas, hopes dreams and all that with safety. If they don't think they can talk to me, it won't happen.Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02333788218398458127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11190188.post-55961874251286318022010-05-19T09:23:57.130-05:002010-05-19T09:23:57.130-05:00Good point.
