Yesterday's Book

Yesterday I took the afternoon off to read a book. A whole book. The complete thing from cover to cover.

It is called “The Waiting Child: How the Faith and Love of One Orphan Saved the Life of Another.” It is an increidlble story of the faith and persistence of a four year old girl to find a family for “her baby” that she left behind in a Chinese orphanage. It was a very compelling true story and I shed many tears reading the book. I learned a lot about adopting from China and was reminded of our experience in adopting from Guatemala. I look forward to getting to the library this morning so I can get online and find out if the sequel that was promised has been printed yet.

It is also a story about the power of love that is true, the power of faith that never gives up, and a real statement about how our children can change us.

One of the best parts of the book was the quotes that came before each chapter. Here are a few of the ones that most moved me:
