The Blog Posts That Never Are

It is amazing the number of times I have sat down to blog something -- usually something that begins with comments about how peaceful and calm it is around here but before I can even start typing that all changes.

This morning it was Jimmy's new pants. He prefers his pants to be 4 inches too big around the waste so that he can sag them. I hate it because it is not who he is. So yesterday I found a great deal on new dress pants. The ones he has been wearing every week are corduroys and look ridiculous during the hot summer.

Well today he made a scene about the whole thing that was over the top and I did not respond well. He exaggerated their tightness, making comments that did not make sense. "I can't sit down in these pants" (said while seated). "I can't walk in these pants" (said while walking). "I can't walk up the stairs" (said while walking up the stairs). For some reason it just made it so much more annoying to me.

But I gave him a choice. (after all I'm not completely controlling). I told him he could wear whatever pants he wanted to and walk to church, or he could where the pants I bought, which look really nice, and have a ride to church.

He left for church with Bart in the pants I bought.

But now my moments of peace are long gone and it is time to awaken the remaining children and set them in motion.

  1. Am I helping at all by letting you know that I find this rather amusing from the outside?
