13 People at the Table

John is home. Ivan is staying. Salinda is home for a couple days. 11 kids+2 parents equal too many for one table. But we smashed in and had a couple people off to the side because we wanted to be together.

I don't have time to blog much as I am getting ready for the trip, but let me say this to all of you who have 18 year old sons. Tell them to check IDs before they have sex. Seriously.

John was given a break, of sorts, and so he has a stay of adjudication, which means that if he survives his probation without screwing up once, he will not have it on his permanent record. However, probation can be anywhere from 3-15 years! If he does screw up, he registers for life and may have to be in prison for as long as 15 years.

He is scared, sober, sad. He made a mistake, a stupid one, and it is going to cost him. Tell yours sons that. John had a girlfriend who was 15. His mom let him move in with them. He was naive and he really wasn't trying to break the law.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have consequences I'm just saying he had no idea they would be so severe and neither did we. We're all sobered by this and I probably wrote too much. But he is here, we are going to do what we can, and the rest will be up to him.

But it was nice to have a full table. And it's nice to have him home.
