Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”Did you see that? Impure spirits — demons that haunt you — are under the authority of Jesus and they obey Him. That's really good news!

Haunted by Personal Demons?
When we talk about being “haunted by demons” these days we aren’t usually talking about spiritual forces as they talked about them in biblical times.
Those days the word demons was used for unclean spirits or impure spirits. Today we are often talking about things like anxiety and depression or mistakes we have made in the past. But either way… whether you feel like you really are fighting spiritual warfare — or whether your own personal demons are haunting you — there’s good news for you in Mark 1:
