My Journey as a Foster and Adoptive Parent.... 12 kids in 12 years.
Hey, Claudia. I finished your book and have already recommended it to a friend who is adopting her foster son.I wish I had read it before adopting my sib group of three. I had no clue what I was in for. I especially liked your pointing out that even children who are placed very young (my son was only 9 mos. old} can have severe and lifetime damage from early neglect and abuse. I have never regretted adopting them and would do it again in a minute, but things would have been easier if I was less ignorant and able to build some support systems and prepare ahead. I had never even heard of RAD.The book was an easy read, not full of technical gibberish but simple down to earth truths of the everyday joys and trialswith great examples of of the points you were making. Your "What We Learned" sections summed up some wonderful insights and suggestions. I am sure I'll go back and read them again.I would recommend the book on my blog, but I don't have any readers yet, just me. lol I haven't even thought up a theme to keep it coherent.I know there is much more to your story, including things that haven't yet occurred. I'm looking forward to book 2.ps. I envy your (and Bart's and Cindy's) great trust in God. I struggle so with my faith. JeanJust Me
