Well, we went to bed last night, unsure where Mike was. This morning at 7:00 right after I got out of bed, Dominyk came up and said that Mike was home and that he had just let him in. I called Mike up the stairs and told him a few things:
1) He wasn’t going to have to leave our home, if was worried about that.
2) I was disappointed that when he finally came home he didn’t even bother to let us know he was safe, to which he replied, “I didn’t want to wake you up.” I reminded him that his older siblings had been waking us up almost every night to let us know that they were home for years.
3) I was glad he was home in time for church.
4) That I didn’t care as much about where he had been as the fact that he didn’t communicate with us.
5) That he could come to second service with the older kids and that I would talk to him later.
He responded fairly appropriately. I intend to have a long conversation with him today and have a family meeting with everyone tonight to let them know why Mike is able to stay this time even though he is starting to pull the same crap (he is now 17 1/2 and he is forfeiting future support if he continues to disregard the rules... and the reminder that he has FAS.
I’m just relieved that he’s here and safe and that he didn’t spiral down to the point of no return.
