Another Day

Well, Mike left with permission (because if we don’t give it he leaves anyway) at about 7 to go skateboarding and said he would be back at 9:15. He arrived home at 6:15.

Today is his 17th birthday. We tried to be positive and appropriate, and we intend to celebrate his birthday (assuming he was here) and get it done so that he can’t hold it against us for the rest of his life. We’ve tried waiting until we felt good about celebrating instead of resentful in the past, but it just makes him say things like, “Remember how you ruined my 14th birthday” or whatever for the next several years...

His probation officer is having a meeting today and will be giving Mike a UA. If he’s been smoking the herbs and spices John has, though, it will come up clean.

With Mike, there are no more answers at this time. We have tried everything we can think of and we have no solutions.

Salinda had recovered from her snit by bedtime and we had a pretty decent talk. I concluded by saying, “I am assuming that you only meant about half of what you said earlier and I’m going to choose to believe which half you meant.” She just smiled.

Bart had a pain free night. He has an appointment at 9:00 a.m. That means I get to do family therapy alone with John this morning, which should be interesting. He did not leave in a good mood. He gets a ride to school and he always manages to make them wait for him. It gets more annoying each day. He also insinuated that he might have chosen not to take his pills, which would not be a good thing.

Bart picked up boxes. I suppose that we should start packing some. But today it’s therapy, then taxes and mortgage paperwork.

One day at a time...
